Assisted Living

Independence With the Right Support

Assisted living at Regency House gives residents a private apartment, their own routine, and a community of neighbors and staff who know them well. Our team handles the meals, housekeeping, laundry and medication management, and provides personal assistance where it is needed.

The result is more time for the things residents enjoy: activities, visits with family, time in the courtyard, and good company at every meal.

Is It Time?

When to Consider Assisted Living

If several of the following are familiar, it may be time to have the conversation.

  • Medications are being missed, doubled, or discontinued without guidance
  • There has been a fall, or a near miss
  • Meals are being skipped, or the refrigerator is empty on your visits
  • Bathing has become unsafe or is being avoided
  • Mail and bills are accumulating unopened
  • The family caregiver is exhausted

If you are unsure, call us and describe the situation. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you and suggest appropriate alternatives.

Admission

How Admission Works

  • 1. An initial conversation. You describe your parent’s situation, and we explain openly whether assisted living is appropriate and what it would cost.
  • 2. A tour. Visit the community, ideally at mealtime, meet the care team, and ask any questions you have.
  • 3. A nursing assessment. Our nurse reviews health history, medications and mobility to develop the care plan and confirm the level of support required.
  • 4. Move-in. We assist with the practical details of the first week and keep you informed as your parent settles in.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?

Assisted living is for someone who needs help with daily living — bathing, dressing, medications, meals — but does not require round-the-clock skilled nursing or medical treatment. Residents keep their own apartment and as much independence as they safely can. A nursing home provides a significantly higher level of medical care. If your parent’s needs are closer to skilled nursing, we will tell you so rather than accept an admission that is not appropriate.

How much does it cost, and what is included?

The monthly rate is based on the apartment you choose and the level of daily care required. It includes three meals a day, personal care assistance, medication management, weekly housekeeping and laundry, activities, scheduled transportation and a care team on site around the clock. We are glad to provide a specific figure by telephone at (423) 870-0050; a tour is not required first.

Can we visit before deciding?

Yes, and we encourage it. Tours are available daily by appointment, and the most informative time to visit is around a meal, when the dining room is full and the care team is at work. If your parent is able to come, their impression will be the most valuable one.

Do you accept long-term care insurance, VA benefits or TennCare?

Many families use private funds together with long-term care insurance or VA benefits such as Aid and Attendance, which can significantly offset the monthly cost for eligible veterans and surviving spouses. Coverage varies by policy and program. For TennCare and the CHOICES program, please ask what we are currently able to accept, as participation and eligibility rules change.

What if my parent needs more care later?

Care needs change, and we reassess regularly rather than waiting for a crisis. If the level of assistance increases, we adjust the care plan and discuss with you what that means for the monthly rate before any change takes effect. If a resident’s needs ever exceed what assisted living can provide, we help the family plan the next step.

How soon can someone move in?

That depends on current availability and on a brief nursing assessment to confirm assisted living is appropriate. We have welcomed residents within a few days when circumstances required it. Call (423) 870-0050 and ask what is available now.
